Quote of the Week
“People are just as happy as they make up their minds to be.”
— Abraham Lincoln
We tend to think happiness is something we arrive at. Something waiting for us once life settles down, once we earn more, once everything finally lines up the way we planned.
But this quote challenges that idea completely.
It suggests that happiness is not something you find later. It is something you choose now.
Not once, but over and over again.
If you think about it, you have probably experienced both sides of this. There have been days where nothing special happened and you still felt good. And other days where everything went right but something still felt off.
The difference was not your circumstances. It was your mindset.
Most people are waiting for life to improve before they allow themselves to feel happy. They are tying their mood to outcomes they cannot fully control.
But the people who actually enjoy their lives do something different. They decide ahead of time how they are going to show up. They do not ignore problems, but they also do not let those problems dictate how they feel.
This week, pay attention to that moment where you usually wait. The moment where you tell yourself you will feel better later.
Instead, ask yourself what it would look like to choose a better mindset right now.
Because maybe nothing outside needs to change first. Maybe the shift starts internally.
And once that changes, everything else begins to feel different.
